COMPANY INFORMATION
B & B Company and Bosom Buddy® have been satisfying mastectomees for
over 20 years. The company was founded in 1976 by Melva Smith, a Boise,
Idaho woman who had undergone a radical mastectomy eleven years before
and was unhappy with the prosthetic choices available to her. A
determined and creative woman, Melva decided to create an alternative
prosthesis. Melva celebrated her 80th birthday in 1995,
as well as the 30th anniversary of her breast surgery!

The company operated as a sole proprietorship until 1979, when it was
incorporated in the State of Idaho as B & B Lingerie Company, Inc.
The product trade name Bosom Buddy was registered with the United
States Department of Commerce, Patent and Trademark Office in 1976. The
trademark was reissued in 1996.
The Bosom Buddy product and accessory items are manufactured in
Idaho, and retail sales, both nationally and internationally, are made
from the Boise, Idaho location. Wholesale sales, to prosthetic dealers
and lingerie boutiques across the United States and in Canada, are also
made from the Boise plant. We maintain an inventory of thousands
of breast forms in all sizes, shapes and colors, so we can ship any
order the same day we receive it.

B
& B employs 23 people, 17 of whom work in a production capacity, cutting
fabric, sewing the breast forms or the pillows that fit inside of them,
or boxing the forms for shipment. The remaining employees staff the
office, answering the many calls and letters we receive, sending
brochures to interested women, and processing orders. On behalf of each
of our employees, President Stacie Neely welcomes you to the Bosom Buddy
web site and encourages you to look around to learn more about our
product. We are anxious to help you in any way we can, because your
comfort is our concern!
